The Best Young Adult Mysteries

I asked on my Facebook page about book lists you would like to see and my favorite Young Adult books was requested and because I so rarely talk about YA books I jumped right on it!  

As I was compiling this I realized something and honestly it might be a tad disturbing to some –  although, I think there is a reason why there are channels, movies and long living televisions about murder and solving murder cases so I’m probably not alone in this – but every single one of my favorite young adult books is centered around murder and danger.

Tell me in the comments if plots revolving around murders is something that intrigues you or if you think I’m disturbed. (PS I really hope you don’t think I’m disturbed!!)

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I personally love the idea of debutantes and I love a good murder mystery, even though Little White Lies didn’t have any murder seeing the many mysteries getting solved was just as enticing. All of the major plots were closed in Little White Lies, but one story was lined unresolved just enough that we are set up perfectly for another book to come to life and I’m truly hoping that we will in fact get more from these angry debs!

The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas

Holy shit! I didn’t see that coming!! The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas had me enthralled, I wanted to savor the story and not to miss any detail so I could figure out who the killer was. Spoiler alert, I still didn’t figure it out. I took my time and I analyzed the story and I just knew that I had it figured out. The Cheerleaders had me questioning every characters motives and what was truly going on in their heads because it seems as if everyone has something to hide.

People Like Us by Dana Mele

I thought that People would be a lot like One of Us is Lying, but it actually ended up being more like Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy. But a little more sinister, dark and psychological. When I finally made it to the end and all of the secrets were revealed I was honestly shocked! I thought that I knew Kay so well, but I feel like I had her completely misjudged the entire time I was reading.

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

I have never been as vocal reading a story as I was reading this one. The secrets and twists and turns will have you gasping and wanting to scream! You will think you know who the killer was, but then you turn the page and you have a brand new theory! Some people said that they figured it out, but the ride to finding out the truth was such a fun one!

Killing November by Adriana Mather

Killing November was more of an experience than just reading a story. I felt like I was there. I could vividly see what was being described. I fascinated and terrified in equal measure. How these teenagers could figure out so much while I the adult would have been petrified was amazing.

Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy

Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy was an outstanding emotionally charged read fueled by the need to discover who is killing all of these girls, the girls that run this school. It was agonizing to try to discover who the killer was, especially because we did read some of the killers point of view. Honestly the killers point of view was the most intriguing for me to read.
