I am so excited for the guest from debut author Luna Maye! When she pitched me this I knew I needed it on my blog because who doesn’t love knowing what to read based on your personality? We would love to hear in the comments which book is for you in the comments!

Romance readers and Myers-Briggs enthusiasts unite because a whole host of typecast romance recs are headed your way. From small-town to suspense, there’s a little something from every sub-genre of romance on this list and they are all available in KU.

Every book on this list I’ve read and LOVED so I hope you will as well. I’m just a book lover, not a personality guru so these best guesses are just for fun.

If you’d like to type yourself before we get started, there’s a great and aesthetically pleasing test available at 16personalities.com. For reference, your friendly writer here is an INFP.

Let’s get started!

INTJ — Architect

Level Up by S.M. Shade

Meet Trey. He’s an INTJ and definitely not your average hero or maybe, he’s shockingly average for a hero. S.M. Shade is pure magic at taking mundane things, real life scenarios and characters that shine despite their circumstances and forming them all up into a story that makes the reader believe their life might have a chance at a happily ever after. Trey’s not got six-pack abs, he works at a taco hut and lives in low-income housing and none of that matters to him or to Sasha because they love each other despite it all and in the end they get their just rewards and a HEA. This book is the fourth book in S.M. Shade’s Violent Circle series and if you haven’t read the rest, they’re definitely worth starting at the beginning. All of the books in this series are relatively quick and easy reads with tons of humor and wild shenanigans — perfect for a midweek pick-me-up if the workweek is getting you down.

INTP — Logician

Hosed by Lili Valente & Pippa Grant

Let’s talk about the insanity of throwing a shy, nerdy, INTP into the wild world of Pippa Grant and Lili Valente’s imagining. There’s a phallic bicycle, a super cute raccoon, one of the hottest firefighters I’ve ever read, and it’s all circling around Cassie, a virgin heroine left in charge of a small-town sex toy factory. It’s a bit of a second chance for an unrequited high school crush to bloom into long-term love and it definitely leaves you with that happy and warm post-book buzz. I’ve read everything in this series (let’s be honest, almost everything Pippa Grant has ever written) and they’re all super worth a book binge.

ENTJ — Commander

Commander  by Kristy Marie

I realize choosing Kristy Marie’s Commander for ENTJ is a bit on the nose. But I think Anniston is the definition of the bold leadership that characterizes an ENTJ. For me, reading Kristy Marie’s books require emotional preparation because I know as soon as I crack one open, I’m going to subject myself to all the feels. If you’re a sucker for a possessive hero who’s a bit of a jerk at first combined with a pure-hearted heroine, this is going to become your go-to . Commander has a prequel titled Pitcher so if you want to grab some background info on this pair, who’ve known each other since childhood, then I’d read that novella first. While this post is dedicated to Anniston, one of my favorite heroes of all time is introduced in this book and is the focus of the second book in the series — Gorgeous. I couldn’t mention this book without giving a shout out to all the other Cade Jameson fan girls out there. Swoon.

ENTP — Debater

Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Catching Him is a book that feels familiar from the first page. You know pretty much how it’s going to go down — alpha hero, reluctant heroine, wayward pets and precious meet-cutes. And even though it’s easy to see what’s coming, every moment of it feels so good that you don’t care. It’s easy to slip into the story and allow yourself to take a break from reality for a bit and that’s the best part of Aurora Rose Reynolds’ How to Catch an Alpha series. They’re short, simple, sweet and fun from beginning to end.

INFJ — Advocate

Covet by Ella James

If you love — heroes who can do no wrong, stories where you enter knowing you’re going to get a picture perfect ending and low-conflict relationships — then here’s your warning: Get out while you still can. That said, I read literally hundreds of books each year and this one is just stuck like glue in my memory. It has an insane plot, lots of demons on the lead characters’ heels, a beautiful but dark backdrop and an ending that didn’t disappoint me, despite keeping me on edge the whole time. I love to hate the way Ella James’ books make me feel and this one is my all-time favorite. Finley is 100% INFJ, she’s dedicated to her belief in Declan’s goodness even when he doesn’t deserve it and even when it jeopardizes her life. Block out a good sized chunk of time to read this one, because once it sucks you in, you won’t want to put it down until it’s finished.

INFP — Mediator

Bad Habit by Charleigh Rose

I discovered Charleigh Rose in the Team Player 2 anthology last year and immediately binged everything she’s ever written in a week. The girl is that good. As an INFP myself, I gave this coveted slot in the post to moody, sexy, gorgeous Asher Kelly. Only an INFP would abandon ship for YEARS in the face of conflict. Briar is his perfect, innocent and sweet opposite and the tension between the two keeps the reader invested from the start. This story has a touch of forbidden love, a dash of angst and beautiful characters that feel raw and vulnerable in all the right ways. But beware; if you read one, you’re going to want to read them all.

ENFJ — Protagonist

Sweet and Vicious by Joanna Blake

Joanna Blake is one of my all-time favorite authors and it’s not just because her books tug at your heartstrings, it’s because you can see her growth as a writer throughout her books. I’ve read both of her MC series start to finish (Preacher is one of my all-time favorites) and Sweet and Vicious is the perfect beginning to her new mafia series. And, now you’re asking yourself why I made my ENFJ entry about a mafia man. Antonio is an old school mobster, ready to take over his father’s empire and he somewhat mistakenly abducts sweet, young Evangeline. You can see where this is going. Antonio might be a very dangerous man, but his intentions are just. He’s possessive and kind and beautiful and filthy rich — all the things that make him a perfect alpha hero.

ENFP — Campaigner

Sleeper by Kayley Loring

This book has a little bit of a bunch of fun romance tropes — best friend’s sister, movie star single dad, live in nanny. But, it’s done in a really fresh way that makes it an excellent read for whenever you get burnt out on your favorite books. I love the sleep diaries portion of this because Shane Miller has a hilarious inner voice. And Willa is such a wonderful heroine, she’s got a really cool job and an inner lightness about her that sucks you in — she’s my ENFP pick. If you’re ready to step outside your normal repertoire, Kayley Loring hit it out of the park with this one.

ISTJ — Logistician

Outcast by Jamie Schlosser

I cannot say enough good things about Jamie Schlosser’s Good Guys series. If you love blue collar, super sweet alpha heroes, then you absolutely need to check her out. Her books are fresh takes on men with career paths you might not typically go for, but the payout is like going to Disney World — once you’re inside her stories it’s the sweetest, happiest place on Earth. Outcast is one of the last books in the series but it’s standalone. Ezra, the hero, was briefly mentioned in a previous book. He’s a really good, kinda broody hero who’s been in love with Kayla, the heroine a long time. He just didn’t realize she’s loved him back just as long. When they (finally) find their way, it’s pure magic.

ISFJ — Defender

Pack of Misfits: Reese by Raven Kennedy

If you’re not a fan of shifters, feel free to either ignore this rec or let it open you up to a whole new world. If you are currently a fan of shifters, the characters in Raven Kennedy’s Pack of Misfits are going to blow you away. These books are not your average alpha wolf meets naive human variety of shifters. They’re some of the most creative and unique books I’ve ever read. If you told me a year ago I’d be recommending a book about an adorable pack rat to people, I probably would have thought you were crazy, but here it is. Both the hero and heroine have damaged pasts and they treat each other so beautifully, it’s really a special relationship to watch unfold. Just trust me on this one. If you’re okay with or into reverse harem and menage, I’d start with Addie, the first book in this series (although Reese’s book is my all time favorite and  Luca is my dream sensitive hero.)

ESTJ — Executive

Finn by Cee Bowerman

You’re looking at the cover of this book and you’re thinking “Really, Luna?” And okay, cool, I get it. I’ve got enough graphic design classes under my belt to know Cee Bowerman’s covers don’t fit the normal romance cover mold. (Although, she does use a local photographer for them and I like to see her support of small businesses.) But! You know what else doesn’t fit the normal romance book mold? Well, Cee Bowerman doesn’t. What does fit in her world are super sassy heroines, stellar back-and-forth dialogue, heroes who love and protect and a whole lot of people who are shockingly cool with violence as long as it’s for the right reasons. Lena is 100 percent an ESTJ and I feel like we all need someone  to step into our life and set it to rights the way she does for Finn. I just pine for these books to come out and maybe it’s because I’m a displaced Texan or maybe because these books feature strong family ties but either way — they make me so happy each and every time I crack one open. Cee, if you’re reading this and want a blonde, introverted and very vanilla sidekick, hit me up.

ESFJ — Consul

Beauty and the Badge — Ella Fox

Beauty and the Badge by Ella Fox has THE BEST side characters ever. Maybe I’m an old soul but give me an interfering grandmother-type in a book and I will be devoted to you forever. Ashley is such a small-town sweetheart it’s hard to picture her in the big city and she really caters to all of the people of Charlotte’s Cove. She’s my ESFJ pick for this book. Tyler is a really great small-town hero with a past and he’s got a very alpha-vibe that all of Ella Fox’s heroes excel at. This would be such a great vacation read because it’s set in a sleepy resort community. I can’t wait for the next one in this series to come out!

ISTP — Virtuoso

Rough Love by Lauren Landish

Let’s talk cowboys for a hot minute. I’m around cowboys literally all the time so I get their hotness in a very real way. But! Western romances can be hard for me to read because I have a background in agriculture and I get stuck on details that wouldn’t bother normal people. ie. saying someone has a 500 acre ranch and 2,000 head of cows. That said, Lauren Landish does everything right in both her Tannen Boys and Bennet Boys series. If you love a big, rough hero with some scars who completely melts in the face of a sweet single mom, then this book will be your kryptonite. It’s incredibly true to rural life while also being easy to read with great characters and story development. Rough and ready Bruce Tannen will be your new book husband by the end of this one.

Make Me Bad is a secret relationship and friends to lovers novel that I couldn't put down with perfect timed comedy and tension.

ISFP — Adventurer

Make Me Bad — R.S. Grey

R.S. Grey has the formula for truly great romantic comedies down to a science and while I’ve loved almost all her books, this one is my very favorite. There’s something really liberating about it, especially for introverts like me, to watch a character like Madison come into her own. It’s fun and freeing, sexy and sweet. It would make a really great beach read in my opinion because it’s so light. This one is a must read for anyone who’s wanted to break out of their shell and just be free to be themselves.

ESTP — Entrepreneur

Sweat by Rebecca Jenshak

Sweat is such a relatable book. Rebecca Jenshak’s heroines are always people I’d want to be friends with and Elle is no exception. Everyone’s wanted to make an ex jealous at one time or another and Ryan Calloway is the perfect man to help our heroine make it happen. I love it when a heroine is super irresistible to the hero but unsure of herself at first and blossoms throughout the book. If you’ve never read Rebecca Jenshak before, then allow me to introduce you to her brilliance and if college sports romances are your jam, her Smart Jocks series is super cute.

ESFP — Entertainer

Grin and Beard It by Penny Reid

I’m so pumped that this series is in KU now! Full disclosure I listened to this one and didn’t read it in print. I’m not normally an audiobook kind of gal because I read very, very fast and listening takes much longer. That said, this book’s audio had some of my favorite voice actors ever. Jethro is one of my all-time favorite heroes and I live for a guy-friend brother/sidekick so Cletus added a lot to the story for me. Sienna is a relatable heroine with a super-cool job and as someone who drives a lot of backroads and ends up perpetually lost, that recurring theme in the book always made me smile. If you haven’t had a chance to read these yet, I highly recommend!

About Luna Maye

Luna Maye spends most of her days reporting and reading plain old boring news at a small-town newspaper in rural Kansas. She spends her evenings tending mini-pigs, chickens and her garden on her 1920s style farmstead and she's never even ridden on a motorcycle but hey, a girl can dream!
Luna loves to write sweet and sexy heroes and heroines who extra-deserve a little TLC.

  1. Thank you for this fun list! So today i read Finn by Cee Bowerman! And you are so right. I loved the characters so much I read the second book about Angus today as well. I’m completely bummed that there are only two so far. I actually really appreciate the covers as well, I’m so over looking at abs as a constant cover.
