2018 brought a vast array of books into my life and I read more novels outside of romance than ever before. I loved that these stories were there for me when I need a break from the romance world that can be a little monotonous at times.

Although my favorite books of 2018 list does include romance reads, this selection is much broader than my favorite Kindle Unlimited reads of 2018.

My top reads of 2018 will live with me for years to come, the stories will rip your heart out and you'll look at life through a different lens.

Memories of us review

Memories of Us by Fabiola Francisco

Hunter and Kenzie’s story was driven by emotional highs and lows, one minute this couple had me in tears and in the next I was swooning, because Hunter is what book boyfriends should be made of. These two have lived a lifetime together and apart that would break most people but Hunter stayed strong in his convictions of love, even when he knew that he was the reason for them being apart.

The Kiss Quotient Review Diverse Read

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

The story was intriguing, sexy and brilliantly written and I can say that I feel smarter after reading The Kiss Quotient! A smartly written love story with diverse characters that is witty and empowering.

Little White Lies is the first book in the Debutantes series by Jennifer Lynn Bares. This southern high society YA novel is sure to be a fan favorite.

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

What a fun and exciting read! I was highly entertained and I never wanted the story to end!!

Sawyer Taft’s story was riveting and complex, but also an easy read with so many twists and turns that you never knew what would really be happening next! All of the girls in this group of debutantes had their own secrets, which thickened the plot even more.

So Wrong It's Right is the final book in Julie Johnson's interconnected romantic comedy series, Boston Love. It's the perfect blend of humor and suspense.

So Wrong It’s Right by Julie Johnson

So Wrong It’s Right is funny, rife with sexual tension and filled with suspense. This is a hate to love romance and the tension between the two of them could be cut with a knife.

If you haven’t read any of Julie Johnson’s work I highly recommend this series. Grab a copy of So Wrong It’s Right and get ready for a heart-pounding, panty dropping, laugh out loud romance!

Combust, the second story in the Everyday Heroes series, was just as magnificent as Cuffed. It was still devastating, but in an entirely different way.

Combust by K Bromberg

Combust is authentic and real. I loved watching Grady and Dylan empower each other as they fell in love even if they each didn’t believe that they could have that.

Worth the Risk is such an emotional book, from tears of joy and tears of heartbreak, I never wanted this story to end. Bromberg nailed this story.

Worth the Risk by K Bromberg

I was up until after one two nights in a row reading Worth the Risk. Let me tell you. My heart. You know that feeling like… your heart stutters or flips? I’m not sure how to describe it, but it’s a legit physical thing for me. It happened over and over.

The Cheerleaders is a visceral tale that will haunt me for books and years to come! A five star read for anyone who enjoys YA suspense.

The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas

Holy shit! I didn’t see that coming!! It took me around three weeks to finish The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas, but that doesn’t accurately convey how enthralled I was was with the story. In fact, the reason why I took so long to read it, outside of the fact that I read the hardback, was because I wanted to savor the story and not want to miss any detail so I can figure out who the killer was.

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory is witty, charming and intense. It's a must read for fans of all things royal, the added suspense is perfectly balanced.

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory

The Royal Runaway is charming, witty and intense! I need more from this world and I am dying for this story to be turned into a series! You don’t want to miss this incredible story, there are twists and turns everywhere!

Pretty Dead Girls is a thrilling Young Adult novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out who the murder is!

Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy

Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy was an outstanding emotionally charged read fueled by the need to discover who is killing all of these girls, the girls that run this school. It was agonizing to try to discover who the killer was, especially because we did read some of the killers point of view. Honestly the killers point of view was the most intriguing for me to read.

Tijan is a master of words and Ryan's Bed will stick with me for years to come. Ryan's Bed is a shocking and real read that will devastate you.

Ryan’s Bed by Tijan

Ryan’s Bed is a sad story, devastatingly sad premise, but the tone overall didn’t make me cry. I was more or less along for the journey with Mac. I knew she had a secret. I desperate to know what it was.

Grace and Fury is an empowering tale or bold sisters who take risks in a time when no one else will. Grab it & experience the brilliance of Tracy Banghart!

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

Oh my word! I read the synopsis of Grace and Fury and I thought it sounded good, but nothing prepared me for the greatness that is Grace and Fury. It’s an empowering tale or bold sisters who took risks in a time when no one else would. The story is filled with cloak and dagger moments and clandestine meetings.
