Warning! Gushy post ahead!
I probably had the biggest moment in my blogging career when I was invited to the Dallas premiere of Forever My Girl, the movie adaptation of Heidi McLaughlin’s novel. Not only was I one of the first to view the movie but I also had the opportunity to meet the star of the show Alex Roe, who played our hero Liam Page.
I know, I know, the book is better than the movie. So much was wrong or left out. (look for a compare and contrast post in the near future) Honestly, I don’t care. I will also have a full movie review coming out on the 17th!!
So. I really just want to talk about Alex for a bit.
He’s English, with the sexy accent and all, but you would never be able to tell while watching the film. He said that that he practiced his southern accent by binge listening to country music for three months prior to filming. He mentioned Dierks Bentley, Brett Eldredge and Chris Stapleton as the ones he listened to the most.
He has NOT read the book, but says that he plans to read it. He didn’t want to read the story prior to filming because the script was so much different than the book.
He actually did all of the singing himself and yes there will be a soundtrack. I personally will be buying it, I loved loved his voice. The songs moved me to tears they were so good.
I honestly had no idea what to expect when I was invited to this premiere, I went with fellow blogger Becky, from The Java Mama, and we went and found our seats when some of her friends let her know that they just took a picture with Alex Roe, so we of course jumped right up and went out to meet him.
Alex was so stinking sweet, he talked to us before and after the movie for quite some time. He signed our Forever My Girl books and genuinely wanted to hear our feedback. Not only did he chat with us but he took the time to answer everyone’s questions and personally met with everyone!
Ohh! FUN FACT: That was his first time watching the film completely edited and in its final form.
Forever My Girl is the perfect date night or girls night out film. Grab you a glass of wine, relax and enjoy Liam and Josie’s story on the big screen!
Check out my interview with author of Forever Mine Girl, Heidi McLaughlin!
I have yet to attend a movie premier. How much fun was this?!?! (I mean I know how much fun but oh man – how much fun!!!) LOL
