Romance Books Everyone Should Read

When you read romance you realize that there are millions of romance novels out there, I mean… it’s a billion dollar industry for a reason. That said I chatted with a couple of friends and along with them and myself we came up with a list of romance books everyone should read.

These books range from huge blockbusters, to stories just so incredibly unique that I’ve never read like it and you must read it! These romances do tend to skew a little more emotional than most books you will find on my site, but these stores are worth every single ounce of pain you may endure while reading.

These romance books should be read by everyone! These emotional reads will stick with you for years to come for numerous reasons!

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

I was bowled over reading Flat-Out Love, I fell head over heels with the story and the characters and I cried so ugly that I couldn’t breath! Also, even after reading this story almost five years ago, I still remember the epic proposal in this story. Talk about swoon.


Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

If you are like me and one of the few people that haven’t read Fifty Shades, well I don’t really know what we are waiting for, more than 150 million copies of the book have been sold world wide. This list of romance books everyone should read just wouldn’t feel complete if I didn’t put it on the list.


Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

Archer’s Voice is one of those epic romance novels that has been recommended to me many, many times over the year, but I haven’t been ready to put my heart on the line for it yet, because I know it will be obliterated. Goodreads named it one of “The Top Romance Novels of All Time.”


The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez is a must read friends to lovers romance that will hit you in the gut with a range of emotions while you fall in love.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

The debut novel from Helen Hoang brought so much buzz to the romance community highlight not just an voice novel, but with a character on the spectrum, everyone was falling in love with Stella. It was on The Washington Post’s 50 Notable Works of Fiction in 2018!

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

The Simple Wild is another book that I have had friend after friend tell me I need to read. This contemporary romance is filled with authentic characters and brimming with emotions, love and drama. I’m told you won’t be able to put the book down!



It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover is one of the top recommended authors to read in new adult romance, and It Ends With Us is not exception the the recommendations. This is a heartfelt romance deals with a difficult subject and highlights the fierceness of survivors.


Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid

The Knitting in the City series is a fun, smart romance that will leave you feeling smarter, but it’s also over the top fun! This story has an alpha male hero, quirky heroine, loads of laughter and some suspense as well! With 67% of the reviews being 5 stars, everyone should read this book!


The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

Mariana Zapata is the QUEEN of slow burn romance. If you are ever looking for a recommendation she will be on the list every single time. On the top of that list The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is usually at the top as well! It was included in Amazon’s Best Books of 2016 for Romance.

The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred

The Sweet Gum Tree is a romance with more tropes than I could name, it follows a couple from childhood through adult hood and even more than a decade later this story is still relevant. The emotional journey this story takes you on makes in romance that everyone should read.


Fisher’s Light by Tara Sivec

Although Tara Sivec is known for her hilarious over the top comedies this is still a must read from her. The real life moments of a soldier returning him from war and PTSD is brings to light issues that so many of our men and women in the armed forces come home and battle daily along with with their loved ones that were left at home during their time away. Emotional. Romantic. Heartbreaking.


While I Was Away is unique and poignant take on soulmates that will be imprinted on me for years to come. This dramatic romance book will sweep you up.

Tijan is a master of words and Ryan's Bed will stick with me for years to come. Ryan's Bed is a shocking and real read that will devastate you.

Ryan’s Bed is a story of dealing with life, even when it’s difficult and it shows us compassion in the most unlikely places and that people really do care. It was surprising and definitely heartbreaking, sometimes even depressing and has a twist that I never saw coming.
