All’s faire in love and war for two sworn enemies who indulge in a harmless flirtation in a laugh-out-loud rom-com from debut author, Jen DeLuca.

Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?

The faire is Simon’s family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn’t have time for Emily’s lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she’s in her revealing wench’s costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they’re portraying?

This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can’t seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon, or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca is a must read small town romances with a bit of hate to lovers mixed in as well. This story pulled me from the reading slump I’ve been in for months and is a shoe in for best of 2019 list!

I have been in the worst reading slump I’ve been in, in years, I’m talking all summer long I just wasn’t feeling any book I read, it just wasn’t sucking me in and keeping me there, the last book that I read and loved was The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez, but praise the Lord for Well Met!

Well Met was funny, quirky with a brooding hero that had me swooning from hand kisses and his brand of woo’ing. He wasn’t perfect and he definitely didn’t have if figured out, but this flawed hero, who dresses as a hot as hell pirate during the renaissance fair just did it for me. I fell IN LOVE with him.

I also adored Emily, she like most of us women, had her insecurities but was learning to put herself first and only accept what is best for her. When she saw that she wasn’t being placed first she put her foot down and stood up for herself, even though it hurt.

I think we can all be a little more like Emily at times, because it’s hard to be open about how we are feeling and what we aren’t getting from a relationship that we expect. I loved watching her grow and learn from her previous relationship and to put herself first when she’s used to always helping everyone else.

If you are looking for a romantic comedy that packs a punch of emotions into I can’t recommend Well Met by Jen DeLuca enough!
