The Ex Effect by Karla Sorensen is an angsty forbidden romance that had me tied up in knots and falling in love simultaneously.

The headline could write itself:
Matthew Hawkins, star defensive end, comes out of retirement to play for the Washington Wolves.

Which is perfectly fine by Ava Baker—it makes her job as publicist for the team easier.

There’s only two problems. This particular football player was her first crush.

The bigger problem: Matthew Hawkins was once engaged to her older sister.

It’s been ten years since Ava has seen Matthew. He’s bigger, better looking, and best of all—completely single. Despite his history with her sister, the attraction between Ava and Matthew isn’t so one-sided anymore.

It’s hot enough to burn down the entire city of Seattle.

But this headline is far more complicated to write. And not just for the press or what it means for her family— because once her heart is involved, there’s no predicting the ending.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

OH MY GOSH! Have you ever read a book that made you want to puke because you were nervous and terribly anxious to see what’s going to happen and how it’s all going to play out and then you think you know what’s happening and then the author throws a curve ball at you and it make your anxiety ramp up tenfold because you just feel this foreboding, ominous feeling?

That is The Ex Effect.

Karla Sorensen had me tied up in knots needing to know how it would all play out in The Ex Effect. I loved Ava and Matthew together and the way they fit together like a perfect puzzle even through all of the struggles because their relationship was complicated and forbidden.

I couldn’t stand Ava’s family, mainly her mother and sister, they were selfish and treated Ava so poorly. I adored the way that Matthew stood up for her no matter the situation. He was a breath of fresh air in the alpha department.

I loved so much about this book even if I felt nauseous the vast majority of The Ex Effect, I want everyone to read so we can all lament about the anxiety we felt!!

The Ex Effect was H-O-T hot! The chemistry between these two is instant and intense and it was obvious that it wasn’t just sexual. Their past friendship forged a unique bond and it made their connection that much deeper.

I could talk all day about the enjoyment I got while reading The Ex Effect and the emotions that I felt, but I’ll never do it justice. Highly recommend you reading this one as soon as possible.  If you haven’t grabbed the first book in the series, make sure you grab The Bombshell Effect too!
