She thought she’d left the murders—and his obsession—behind . . .
Special Agent Jess Harris has spent more than a decade studying the many faces of evil. In her determination to stop a serial killer, she broke the rules, and it cost her everything. With her career in need of resuscitation and her love life dead and buried, Jess jumps at a chance to advise on a case that has the top detectives of Birmingham, Alabama, stumped. But the case forces her to confront all the reasons she put her hometown—and her first love—in her rearview mirror.
Four young women have gone missing, and Police Chief Dan Burnett will do anything to find them before it’s too late—even if it means asking for help from the woman who has spent a decade avoiding him. Jess agrees to lend a hand and welcomes the diversion of a new case, a new life to save to make up for the victims she’s lost. But then the unthinkable happens: the crazed serial killer from her past follows Jess to Birmingham. The situation is becoming increasingly desperate—and time is swiftly running out…
This is my second time reading Obsession, the first time I didn’t write a review, but after listening to the audio, which is free with Audible Escape, I knew that I had to share this greatness to the world this time.
This is a series that I always recommend to friends that don’t think that they like romance, because it’s very light on the romance and heavy on the suspense. There are multiple romances within this series and you see them start to bud here Obsession.
To kick the series off we meet Jess Harris, down on her luck after she broke some rules with the FBI and because of that a killer got off on a technicality. Jess’s first love calls her needing help finding missing women in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.
Jess instantly ruffles feathers with the task force when she begins assisting on the investigation to find this missing women, she is a fierce and brilliant woman that doesn’t mind bending the rules to save anyone.
The case in this story is something you would see in criminal minds and we get pieces of what is happening on that end of things from one of the abductee’s points of views. I love knowing all facets of the case when I read so that made Obsession a bit more in depth and anxiety riddled.
Obsession is a romantic suspense novel that you don’t want to miss and every reader, romance or not will find something in this story that they will enjoy.
