I am so excited to have a chance to chat with Ashely Cade ahead of her latest release, Everything We Left Unsaid, the second book in her small town romance series, Wild Hearts.
HEA Novel Thoughts: What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t wearing your author hat?
Ashley Cade: I love reading, of course and spending time with my two boys. They’re 2 & 4 and keep me on my toes. There’s never a dull moment with them around.
HEA: What is the most recent book to make you cry?
AC: All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover.
HEA: What would you choose as your mascot/avatar? Why?
AC: A sloth because they’re cute and super chill. They don’t get in a hurry for anything which is the complete opposite of me. I’m always rushing around trying to get a million things done at once.
HEA: What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
AC: Understanding their thought processes and how they perceive situations and process emotions differently than their female counterparts.
HEA: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
AC: I haven’t so far, but it’s always a possibility for future books.
HEA: How long on average does it take you to write a book?
AC: It has varied greatly with each book. My first book took nearly 5 years to write. The second was just over a year, and my third and current work in progress is nearly complete after only a few months.
HEA: If you could go back and give your younger self advice, what would it be?
AC: Don’t ever let anyone discourage you or suppress your creativity. Be unapologetically who you are. It’s not your responsibility to fit a mold someone else has created for you.
HEA: Do you have any tips or hacks that help you stay organized in life, writing or social media?
AC: None. Zero. My life is complete disorganized chaos lol.
HEA: Do you relate more to one of your characters than the others?
AC: I think I relate more to Abby. She was the first character I ever envisioned and there’s so much of my personality injected into hers.
HEA: If a reader discovers your books today, where would you recommend they start reading?
AC: I recommend starting with Something That Could Last, book 1 in the Wild Hearts Series. It has everything you need in a small town romance: a swoony hero, lots of heat, some heart warming moments, and witty banter.

𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘴…𝘓𝘪𝘦𝘴…𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘭.
It’s been far too long since I’ve laid eyes on Abby.
I expected surprise.
I expected anger.
What I got was devastation.
Abby’s been lying to me, keeping secrets that affect us all.
Our past…? It’s complicated
An elusive truth with the power to alter everything I know, everything I want, and everything I love.
But things aren’t always what they seem.
And betrayal…it never comes from the person you expect.
