Welcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one-and-only Trixie Mancinkus.
Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.
So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.
But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Ain’t He Precious is exactly what you expect from the title! It is as sweet as the tea we drink in the South! I wouldn’t say sex is a big part of the book, while it does occur it is more fade to black, which I personally love because on a short book like this that could really bog down to story!
I loved how this story is kind of told from Pap’s point of view. It was sweet how he had Trixie’s back. I loved the entire dynamic of Trixie’s family and I honestly can’t wait to get more of this family. I wish we could have had a longer epilogue, but I suppose we will get more of Ry and Trixie’s story in the next book as well as more of her family.
The southernness of this what really sold, although I am from the south we don’t quite like this Mayberry style town and that just really appeelaed to me, I loved the small town in this story, it was really a big factor in this story.
I love the way Ry handled everything, when it could have a cluster of epic proportions he handled everything that came his was with grace and swagger.
Grab a tall glass of sweet ice tea and enjoy the southern charm of Ain’t He Precious! Then grab the next in the series!
