I’m so happy to have Allie York stop by and chat with us just ahead of the launch of the latest books in the 425 Madison Series, thanks for chatting with me Allie!

I am so excited for this second season of the 425 Madison Series! Season one was the most amazing project I have ever been part of. In Just A Little More you meet Piper and Derek, characters introduced in my first book in the series, Just Swipe Right. In ‘Just a Little More’ Piper and Derek are in for a wild ride on their way to happily ever after. And I’m thrilled to be here at HEA Novel Thoughts for a special pre-release interview!

Allie York stopped for an interview and to share an exclusive excerpt of her most recent Madison 425 series romance, Just A Little More.

HEA Novel Thoughts: Are any characters based off of you, friends, family, or anybody in your life?

Allie York: In season one I wrote about Crazy Sara. She’s flirty, pushy, and so much fun! She’s based on my best friend from high school who I will affectionately call Em! She knows I used her and LOVES it!

HEA: Is there a certain place where you get more inspired to write than others?

Allie: I love writing at a bookstore. I’m surrounded by so much inspiration!

HEA: What made you start writing?

Allie: I started writing because no matter how many books I read, I never found the one I was playing in my head. The real world is full of so much negativity and writing gives me a way to escape that and only focus on happily ever afters.

HEA: Have you ever cried while writing?

Allie: I have cried while writing! When I ended my first series (The Broadway series), I knew I was moving on, and after three years with those characters, it was hard to say goodbye.

HEA: How do you balance writing with real life?

Allie: I want to say I balance writing and the rest of my life, but the truth is, I wing it and hope for the best. With 5 kids, a husband, and a pack of dogs, I squeeze writing in when I can.

HEA: Are your book settings based on a real place?

Allie: My first series, The Broadway Series, is based in my city and while I changed the names of the businesses, I used the real Broadway and I owned a grooming shop in the location I set the businesses in The Broadway Series.

HEA: What makes a great romance novel?

Allie: A great romance novel comes with drama, a little angst, and two ever-changing characters overcoming the odds.

HEA: If a reader discovers your books today, where would you recommend they start reading?

Allie: If you are new to me, you’ll want to start with All & Nothing in The Broadway Series.

“What about you? Here to find Mr. Right Now?” Sara sets her sights on a man across the room, red tie loosened around his neck and jacket draped over his arm. Apparently, she likes the business type. I can’t blame her there. As a manager of the most upscale restaurant in the area, Derek’s work attire includes a suit and I love seeing him in and out of it.

“I’m actually seeing someone,” I admit.

Her eyes snap back to me, wide with anticipation. “Tell me everything.” And so almost-drunk-me does. I tell her all about Derek and how we met, and how he makes me want to not date around anymore and that after a month, I have no regrets about making this a serious relationship. I also drunkenly spill my guts about how I’ve never had a serious relationship before, and it scares me to think this could go on to be a forever thing. Sara listens without interrupting for a solid ten minutes. Her blue eyes all doe-like while I talk. Our drinks vanish again, and I realize that I am moving from tipsy to drunk at a rapid pace. Sara is a dangerous influence on my drinking, but it’s Friday night, so what the hell. I tip my beer back.

“That is so sweet. I wish I could find a guy that does it for me like that, but I can barely find one who can do it for a night.” I get a dramatic eye roll. “Seriously, I know you understand. How many men have actually given you an orgasm out of all the partners you’ve had?” Sara sips her fruity, pink drink, waiting for my answer.

“You have a good point,” I admit. I feel like Sara may have a few partners on me, but I’ve had my fair share of men who had no idea what they were doing in the bedroom. That’s not a problem with Derek, but it’s been an issue before. It’s good to know I’m not alone. After that, our conversation moves from public-friendly to R-rated and the drinks keep coming. Three more (or is it four?) to be exact. The next thing I know, we’re chatting about sex toys and carrying our shoes on the way back to the apartments. It’s a decent walk from Monterey’s to Madison Avenue, but getting in the back of a taxi sounds horrible after exceeding my two-drink maximum. Sara goes into a story about a man who told her that the clit was a myth and she was just trying to get out of getting him off. I laugh and we both stumble a little.
