Andonia “Andi” Schwartz is the kind of gal you love to hate. Snarky, skinny, and jaded, Andi’s goodness lies hidden beneath her sharp edges. But it’s there . . . this independent single mom has it going on.
Reid Fellows is a lovable dude. Bespectacled tenure-track statistics professor by day, shirtless blogger by night, he’s a catch on paper and easy on the eyes.
Andi wields her power and unruly commentary from behind her laptop as the anonymous proprietor of The UnAffectionate Blogger. Reid’s blog, Grill and Groom, began on a dare. Now, he regularly shows his abs of steel while grilling.
He may love this gig more than his day job. She needs her page views and advertisers to support her daughter. Until the two meet and spin a web online and IRL . . . in real life.
What happens when two bloggers fall for each other?
A new blog is born.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Have you ever read a book and thought, Dang it. That could be me!!
That is exactly how I felt reading Hot for His Girl. We follow the story of a single mom blogger and I instantly connected. Granted there are some major differences between the two of us, namely her blog is profitable, but I digress.
I simply adored Andi and Reid’s story, he was charming and sweet, completely irresistible. He’s a nerd, a man’s man and can grill. He was great with Andi’s daughter most of the time, the fact that he didn’t always ‘get’ the struggles that single mom’s go through made him more real. I try to date as a single mom, and his getting jealous of not getting to spend time with her, when she was with her daughter was such a real life moment, that I have dealt with so many times. When you date a woman with a kid you don’t get to be first.
I loved how Reid helped Andi to start to take time for herself and not just spend the time cooped up in her apartment with her daughter. He made her a better woman and mother. But. Sometimes Andi had me beating my head against the table, want to flip through the book because she was keeping a secret and I *needed* her to tell him. I was frustrated. I can’t say I wouldn’t do the exact same thing as her but DANG IT!
Hot for His Girl by Rachel Blaufeld is one of the best single mom books I’ve read in a while, with relateble character, perfectly balanced with comedy and angst. It’s not to be missed by the hustlin’ mommas out there!
