When Felicity Wilde arrives in Nashville, she’s not looking for fame — she just wants a safe place to hide from the ghosts of her past. And for a while, starting fresh seems possible. She lands a job at a local music hotspot, collects her tips, and keeps her head down.
Until one night, he steps on stage.
Ryder Woods is a rising star. Everyone knows he’s destined for bigger things — it’s only a matter of time before he lands a record deal and heads for Los Angeles without looking back. He has no interest in getting stuck in Nashville, like all the other washed-up musicians who’ve never quite made it. But once he spots the quiet girl working behind the bar — the one with haunted eyes, who sings the most heartbreaking lyrics he’s ever heard in his life — Ryder’s suddenly not in such a hurry to leave.
As Felicity and Ryder begin to make music together, their connection only deepens… but with demons of Felicity’s past circling closer, and the demands of Ryder’s future finally coming to fruition, they’ll find themselves at an undeniable crossroads…
They always say fame comes with a price…
But what if that price is the love of your life?
I received this book for free from Julie Johnson in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I just finished Faded and my heart is in pain. Physical pain. I can feel my heart broken and what kills me the most is I know it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
You see, I’ve met Ryder before, our hero from Faded, in The Girl duet by Julie Johnson. Ryder had all kinds of problems in those books, so I had an idea going in what was going to be the problem, but you see. The ending of Faded it well and truly broke me. There is so much that could be explained away, but I get it. I understand Felicity’s reasons, and why she did what she needed to do. It makes sense, I know her and her motivations.
I GET IT.
That doesn’t mean I like it. I am now a tortured soul sitting here gasping for breath and I won’t get another full deep breath again until I get Faded Part 2 in my hands and I know how everything happens. I need my heart and soul mended so desperately right now.
I am head over heels in love with both Ryder and Felicity. They are destined. OTP. I’m not even joking. These two are meant to freaking be. It sucks because I know that every couple has problems, but I want theirs to be over and for them to work it out!!
Not only was Faded torture in an amazing way, the lyrics that Johnson spun were delightful and heartbreaking. The scenes she painted were so vivid that I was convinced that I have been to Nashville and LA.
I will be waiting with bated breath for the conclusion of Ryder and Felicity’s story in Faded Part 2.
