I have been reading romance for quite a while now and I have learned a few things. I have been taught not to judge a book by the cover and don’t just assume that a guy is a creepy douche-bag with no redeeming qualities. I have accumulated a list of the top five things I have learned from reading contemporary romance. Enjoy!
(I feel like I should tell you right now that this post is not meant to be taken seriously. Please do not think that I actually believe what I am going to say. This post is purely for entertainment.)
It’s perfectly normal for a handsome stranger to continually pop up the same places you are. Your regular coffee shop, on the street, Walmart. Whatever. Don’t worry if it seems like he’s stalking you. This is just his way of showing you that he is interested. You will cave and end up going on date with him. Because, he probably has dimples.
Say goodbye to only one orgasm that you have to work so, so hard for. Once you meet, “the one” you will have multiple O’s every time and he will make sure that you get yours several times, prior to him getting his. And of course, you will tell him that this has never happened to you before he’s going to tell you, that you’ve just been with the wrong men.
If you find a man, and he happens to be hit man, in the mafia, a crime lord, etc. It’s okay. I swear it. He had a troubled past, a rough time growing up. You know, one of his parents probably left him and his other parent was probably an addict that died so then he was bounce from foster home to foster home. BUT. DO NOT FEAR HIM. You stand up to him and eventually you will break down those walls and you find that he actually has a heart of gold.
ou need an awesome best friend, because once she meets her soulmate the odds are in your favor that he has a best friend or brother that is equally as smoldering and the perfect match for you. There is no way as much as you try to fight it, that you won’t end up together. You will both be in the same place at the same time, ALL THE TIME. Don’t worry if he’s a player. He will change his ways for you.
Don’t get too mad when there is a big miscommunication and you break up with him. He will fly across the country or the ocean to come and find you. And once he does finally track you down, no matter the means, probably his friend that can hack into databases, he will make it worth your time. This is when you will get the the GRAND GESTURE! Be ready, because it can be anything from throwing rocks at your window to getting down on his knee with a HUGE rock!
Since I’m pretty sure this is how to real world works as well we just need to be aware that anything is possible. Don’t write off the guy because he’s borderline stalking you, a killer or a player. He will redeem himself. Believe in second chances and find your happily ever after!

Oh, I grew up on romances and at some point realized that it distorted my reality on romance. I still enjoy reading them though.
