All around us was darkness and night…

I’m not a hero. I’m a survivor.
I had one way out, and I took it.
Now all I want is peace,
A place to pick up the pieces and start over.

But she wants justice.
Names on a list, faces in the crowd.
I vowed to help her, but it’s taking us back to the demons.
Until he appeared.

I thought he died in the fight.
I was wrong.
He’s here.
Stronger, more powerful… Sexier.

And dangerous.

The boy I loved is now the one man we have to fear most.
When he tried to save me, he had no power.
Now everything has changed, and he’ll never stop until I’m his.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

“It’s elation at seeing each other again. It’s devastation at knowing anything between us is impossible.”

I opened and Under the Stars and the first thing I noticed was the story picked up almost 6 years from the end of Under the Lights!! Say what?? But then I remembered that there is a novella between them that I didn’t read. You don’t need to read the novella, I believe it would make this story a little clearer, but it is explained well throughout Under the Stars.

Under the Stars was an unexpectedly exciting story! I anticipated something much more angsty, sad, depressing read, but what I actually read was a high stakes mystery with a strong theme of revenge. It was messy and nothing was going the way they anticipated, which made it that much more exciting to read.

“I’m no different than the rest of the fallen angels in the hell we left behind.”

Can you ever actually escape the underworld or your dark past? Or will you continue to run from it forever? Molly is hell bent on vengeance for the pure torture that she endured as a young woman, Lara, is ready to move on from that part of their life, but the past resurfaces in a way she never could have anticipated and that’s when things start getting really intense.

“The clock is still going, still time to do good, to make a difference, to be heroes.”

Lara is so fierce and she and Mark will do everything they can to protect the ones they love, even if it means risking their own lives. The ending of Under the Lights wasn’t quite what I expected, but it was marvelous because it leads by the hand right into Molly’s book, The Hit Girl.

“We fell in love in the night under the stars.”
