Heroes don’t last long around here…
Fall in love with the sexiest girl in New Orleans?
Check.
Prepare to die for her?
Double-check.
Larissa is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
She’s the rising star of the Pussycat Angels, the hottest burlesque show in the French Quarter.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw her.
The curve of her breast outlined by sparkling rhinestones.
Slim hips wrapped in black fishnets.
Long, dark hair…
She’s the Dark Angel who stole my heart.
Her body is intoxicating, our love overwhelming.
Cat eyes and blood red lips.
Sizzling fingers on white-hot skin.
I couldn’t keep my hands off her…
But her fame had a dark side,
A sinister shadow lurking under the lights.
I would do anything to save her…
He would do anything to see me dead.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Well… that was devastating! Don’t stop reading now, I’m not saying that Under the Lights the book was devastating, but the ending of Under the Lights was gut-wrenching, pulse pounding and heartbreaking.
I knew going into Under the Lights that it’s a duet and we all know that duets have cliffhangers. On the spectrum of cliffhangers, I would say this one was less intense than some others that I have read, but still has me craving more from these characters.
“Our kisses are wildfire, fast-moving, lips pulling, hungry for something more.”
Mark and Lara have both had to live through some difficult circumstances in their lives and that has formed and shaped them to who they are today. Their connection from the beginning was raw, powerful and sexually charged. Their connection was palpable for me and no matter how many outside forces were trying to pull them apart they just kept coming back together.
“I realize we’re on the edge of something more, something bigger than this place.”
Mark and Lara are both wanting to escape the dark, seedy underground world that they have found themselves in, but they are stuck between a rock and a hard place because you need money to escape and money they don’t have. With no family to turn to, a rich man seems to be Lara and her “sister” Molly’s hope of escape to this terrifying world, were rape, drugs and dirty cops rule.
Mark will do everything in his power to protect Lara, but will that be enough?
Under the Lights is a dark, thrilling beginning to a duet that is sure to capture hearts of readers everywhere.
