Rule #1: No hot guys.
It might sound ridiculous. I get it. It kind of is, but college was supposed to be my sanctuary. It was my place to start over. The rumors, the whispers, and the jealousy I endured through high school would all be gone.
No one would know me at college.

Rule #2: No drama.
I’d major in pre-law. I’d make a few loyal friends. Everything would be easy breezy. No one was going to use me or hurt me. I wouldn’t let them.

Rule #3: New year. New place. New me.
Right?
Wrong.
And all because of Shay Coleman.

Football captain and quarterback, he was the big guy on campus. The cocky guy in my political science class with a smirk. I hated him on sight . . .

. . . and he was about to break all my rules.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Hate to Love You is a classic Tijan story. It is everything I expected from her and more. I know this book will not be for everyone. It deals with some difficult, hard hitting issues, but a lot of Tijan’s books do deal with them. It has a dark feel to it because of these issues. But that will not keep you from falling in love with Kennedy and Shay.

These two were a match made in heaven if their relationship started off chalk full of animosity and hatred. Preconceived notions and past skeletons really shook them from the beginning and things just spiraled from there.

One of the things I love about Tijan’s writing is the strong bonds that she creates between the friends and the family of the lead characters, and this was no exceptions. I loved Kennedy and her brother’s relationship and her mother was so quirky you couldn’t help but adore her. Linde, Kristina, and Casey were also amazing side characters and I honestly hope we get more stories from their points of views.

This story will keep you on the edge of your seat right up until the ending not knowing what will happen but you know in your gut that something will happen.
